Joo Chiat! Joo Chiat!

It's been quite a long while since I chauffer Bernice out for a ride, considering that COE and car price are at an all time high, it's not practical to own a car. Fortunately we found out that there's this Car Club membership that offers car rental at a reasonable price, without having to worry about road tax, insurance and all the issues that comes with car ownership.

Bernice had wanted to go Joo Chiat for breakfast so I booked a 8am-12pm slot for a Toyota Vios which is nicely located in the multi-storey carpark behind our block. So off we went to our first destination...the colonial-style shop houses of Joo Chiat Road!

Bernice was looking forward to the famous Kway Guan Huat's hand-made popiah shop but she was in for a disappointment as we're too early and the owner had just opened for business. Oh well...

After exploring the shop houses for a while, we decided to cross over to the Geylang Serai market and food centre where there's a greater selection of malay food. Bernice settled for longtong while I opted for the traditional toast and eggs set.

With our tummy satisfied, we window-shopped for a while, bought some dried grocery stuff, and were on our way again, this time to Bras Basah Complex, as Bernice wanted to order her contact lenses at Kwong Shin Optical while I browse the books at Tecman's. We head for home at about 11.25pm, glad to spend a little adventure exploring the roads on our own.

Ps: We did have a little scare earlier on the PIE when KT realized he forgot to put the cash card into the IU, and we fumbled to take it out of his wallet and inserted wrongly on the first try. Thankfully we prayed for KT to have steady hands before we set out! God is gracious.
