With IJK @ Changi Airport

Today we had a date with IJK at the Changi Airport @ T3 at 11am. We were surprised to meet Dena who was there to sent off her cousin.

Finally IJK arrived and met up with us at the Departure Hall (pun intended). They really looked forward to a fun-filled day with us...

Incidentally, there is currently a promotion till end January 2012 which allows you to redeem an Angry Birds collectable if you charge $50 or more per receipt to your Visa card. There's even a huge Angry Birds display setup featuring the Pigs in different famous landmarks of the world.

Beside the display is a 10m plant sculpture of the Merlion (there are others in different terminals of Changi Airport).

As it was near noon, we decided to go over to T2 for lunch. Taking the skytrain, we caught a glimpse of the iconic ATC tower...

Over at T2, we found another plant sculpture, this time it's the Heaven's Altar of Beijing, China.

What is Christmas without the trees, snow sledge and reindeers? This is expected from a commercial standpoint to create festive moods and spendings, though. The true meaning of Christmas, however, is more significant but sadly ignored in the midst of all the merry-making.

As promised, we took IJK for lunch at Swensen's as the kids were craving for ice-creams after the main course. Bernice opted for the NZ Ribeye topped with brown gravy. Yum...

After lunch and desserts, we adjourned to the public viewing gallery where the Changi Aviation Gallery was hosted. We learned about the history of aviation in Singapore and gotten some insights into Changi Airport's operations. Did you know a plane takes off every two minutes? (Betcha you didn't know that; in fact, the latest I know it's every 100 seconds now. Wow... being an ATC officer can be quite stressful indeed!)

Here's a light moment where the camera-shy Isabel covered her face like a middle-east lady, with Joshua oblivious to the happenings...

Once again we're back at T3 and that's when we noticed the Christmas trees with the plant sculpture of the ATC tower in the background.

By this time, there's an inflated playground setup with kids and their parents enjoying the climbs and slides.

Having charged the lunch bill to my Visa card, I proceeded to redeem tickets for The Slide @ T3 at $10 per slide. IJK and myself had a go at the 12m high, world's tallest slide in the airport. Joshua loved it so much he went for a second time.

Joshua may be a teenage standing at 1.75m tall, but he's still quite a kid in heart like the little boy standing beside him with his kick scooter.

Before the day ends, we went over to basement 2's Candy Empire to buy some candies for IJK. (They were elated to be given free reins on the choices of candies to select from the pay-by-weight section.) After that, we had a little WoodBlock rubbing fun at the Interactive Art corner so IJK could bring some sourvenirs back home.

It was quite tiring for us but the time spent was well worth in the growing years of IJK. Hopefully, it will become an unforgettable part of their memories that will accompany them for years to come...
