On a CNY Morning...

Couldn't believe we actually woke up early on the first day of CNY, when our first visitation (which was to my mum's place) was scheduled in the afternoon. I had asked Bernice what she felt like having for breakfast; she looked at me with glistering eyes and replied, "Star...bucks!"

So off we trod in our Tee's and Slip's to the nearest outlet, along the quiet stretch of the usually noisy main road, towards Clementi Mall. As we crossed the traffic junction, I waved a CNY greeting to a startled bus captain of a double-deck 78, who gestured back to me with a composed wrist wave on the steering wheel. Feels really good...

The Mall was quite vacant and dimly lit as we made our way up the escalator. Fortunately, Starbucks was opened for business (with only one customer at that time, reading his newspapers). I liked the uncrowded and unhurried feeling. Bernice had wanted a Bagel but changed her mind after browsing through the pastries.

In the end we settled for two chicken puffs (peppered and potatoed) AND a cup of Latte grande - Wow! that really kick-started our CNY!
